Statement From Forest Place Nursing Home
• First and foremost, the management and staff of Abbey Total
Care Group would like to express their sympathies and send
condolences to the family and friends of Ruby Wilson, a much-loved
resident of our Forest Place Nursing Home.
• Ruby died following a tragic incident at the home on Wednesday
29th November.
• All our staff, especially those directly involved with the
day-to-day care of Ruby, have been deeply affected by her death and
this tragic loss. All those who knew this special lady will miss
her greatly.
• The incident occurred shortly before 1.20 p.m. on Wednesday,
29th November 2017. Our staff acted swiftly and in line with proper
procedure in responding to this incident and by calling the
emergency services. Measures were immediately put in place to
safeguard all the other residents within the home and no residents
witnessed the incident.
• Essex Police have handled their initial inquiries in a very
thoughtful and sensitive way, which has minimised the disruption of
care delivery to the other residents within the home. We will
continue to support the Police by co-operating with their
investigation in any way we can. Once complete, we will also liaise
with Adult Safeguarding and the Quality Care Commission (CQC)
whilst undertaking our own internal review into the circumstance of
this incident.
• This has been a traumatic experience for us all at Forest
Place Nursing Home. We are working to support all of our staff, and
in conjunction with Essex County Council, counselling has been
arranged for any resident, family member or any staff member who
wants this service. The home is also grateful to St John's Church,
Buckhurst Hill, for all of its support.
• We have also arranged a special relatives meeting for next
week Thursday 5th December at Forest Place Nursing Home, which will
be attended by representatives of the West Essex Clinical
Commissioning Group.
• As you will appreciate, this is an on-going police
investigation and we cannot comment any further on this tragic
incident at this time.
