WHAT IS RESIDENTIAL CARE

A settled home with care shaped around each person.

Residential care at Abbey supports older people who may no longer feel safe or confident living alone, or who would benefit from consistent help with daily routines. It is different from nursing care: residential care does not include 24-hour clinical nursing, but our staff are trained to a high standard and registered nurses are on-call where needed.

Care is built around assessed needs, with dignity, choice and familiar rhythms at the centre of everything we do

  • Daily support with personal care, meals and mobility
  • Clear, regular communication with families
  • Respect for personal routines, culture and preferences
  • Availability subject to assessment and space at individual home

01

Getting to Know You

Before a resident arrives, we take time to learn their life story — hobbies, routines, family history, food preferences, faith and the daily habits that make life comfortable.

02

Settling In Gently

The first weeks in a new home can feel unfamiliar. Our team supports each resident to build familiar rhythms and form new friendships at a pace that feels natural.
